Darius Paymai (1998) is an Iranian-American composer and performer living and working in London. His recent work explores the materiality of sound and performance through stasis/cycles, open scoring, and severe limitation of material.

Darius' music has been played by Quatuor Bozzini, Heather Roche, conductor Jack Sheen, The De Kooning Ensemble, Kompass Ensemble, and Ben Smith, and performed at Hundred Years Gallery, The Courtauld Gallery, and All Saints Blackheath.

Equally at home on the airwaves as in the concert hall, his music has been broadcast on KINDRED, Rare FM, VIP MIX, and Soundsystems Radio. He has also made and presented/co-presented shows and mixes on Threads Radio, Rare FM, VIP MIX, and Soundsystems Radio.

His performance practice focuses on text/graphic scores and improvised drone music with synthesisers, harmonium, and live electronics.

He recently completed studies with Paul Newland and Paul Whitmarsh at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he earned a BMus(hons) (first class), supported by the Guildhall School Trust.
